Confessions of teens mom #8

Weird crazy emotions! Blessed that my
Kid is alive and well! Just finished one of the toughest assignment a parent has to do for the Every 15 Minute Program. Glen and I were asked to write an obituary for Brent. Without knowing how to write one, we looked up a few examples but Glen took over and wrote a beautiful obituary. I just cried! The fear of losing one of my kids is just unbearable. It is my hope that Brent and Victoria, and all the other teenagers, will take the hard lessons  being taught to heart and think twice before doing something stupid.
Please help me to continue to have strength and patience to raise smart young man and woman so they can make good decisions as they grow and become more independent.

Confessions of teens mom #7

Tears!!!!!

June 10, 1997 my little boy came to this world after being late and with extra help from doctors (once labor started, he came in an hour!) the first months were terrifying... You know... Being new parent! But thank God, he was perfect, my life was perfect! A wrestler from birth and after many years of practicing, participating in different tournaments, a break in here and there, Brent wrestled hard during his 4 years at Ripon High School. I am a proud mama of this young man for all the time he dedicated to the program. Also thankful for the wonderful coaches that guided him through all four years.
To new adventures!

Brent's Final Match
Brent's freshman year… He helped secure the TVL win for RHS!

Brent shaking hands with Coach White after a win! Last match of his high school career.

Confessions of Teens mom #6

What can I say? My son drew this during art class. His caption brought me to tears. So true! During teenage years it seems that happens often, and a hundred times more as we embark on different journeys through out our lives. "Love people who hurt us" powerful... To my 2 kids... Never forget that I will always love you even when we don't see eye to eye and say things that needs to be said. Brent and Victoria, never forget to love yourself, your family, and those around you. So proud of both of you!

Done!

After 2 hours trying to find a way to keep all my pictures and videos I had posted on Facebook, I finally transferred and at 2:12pm today, I deleted my Facebook. I am proud of myself for sticking to what I think will be the best decision I have made in forever. To my freedom!

Goodbye Facebook

After years on the crazy world of Facebook and numerous threat of disconnecting, I am finally saying goodbye. I haven't felt so free and so in control in a long time. After weeks of staying away I can now delete without hesitation. Doesn't that sound sad? How can this web world control someone life like this? Why you ask... Done with drama, cattiness, heartaches, and headaches. To being free, happy, and in control!!!!!!

Confessions of teens mom #5

Remember when you were a teenager and you fell head of heels for the boy or girl? First love is wonderful!!!! No one listens to anyone but then come the heartbreak where life is just OVER! I remember going through it and counting on my friend to help it make it better. Back in the day we didn't have social media where we could vent or txt messages where we could let the other read our feelings. So glad I didn't have that because I don't know how I would have handled.
Today, I sat with my boy and try to explain life and the future... So hard to break someone's heart and have your heartbroken. But life is beautiful and choices we make today has an ever lasting impact.
To my son and daughter, life is great make the most of it. Study hard, devote to your high school years because it will fly by, and never forget... Friends come and go but family is forever! Love you babies and thank you son for allowing me to be there through your hard times.
Mama bear!

Confessions of teens mom #4

Growing up I didn't give too much thought to how my parents behaved when they were teenagers. I do know my dad had it rough, my mom not so much but not spoiled. But regardless of financial circumstances, how were they as teenagers? Did they get in trouble or were they goody goody? I was a daddy's girl, but still had to abide by the "rules of the house" and it didn't matter if it made me upset or not. I do remember some more rebellious moments of my teenage years and now wonder what my parents were thinking? Did they want to strangle me? Gave up on trying at times (4th child!) or did they think, "Hey, been through it, it's now her turn"? As my kids are challenging me on daily basis, I think back on how I handled some of the same situations and how parents reacted. And I have to say... I think I got the better end of the deal! My parents didn't work at the school I attended, my group of church friends had my back (cause I had theirs), I didn't have a cell phone so they could keep tabs on me, I didn't live in a small town where everyone knew me and reported to my parents. So, is it fair that I am on my kids non stop? I see, hear, read things that my parents would have never been able to. Am I just overbearing and not allowing my kids to grow and learn from their mistakes? Or am I preventing them from stupid mistakes that could ruin their future lives? How to balance the difficult things that the today's youth goes through that it was not a problem when I was growing up or when my parents were teenagers. Parenthood is the most challenging task that a person goes through as we try to balance what was learned, what the kids should learn, and the evolvement of each generation. Wow! Life just got super complicated!!!!  I hope my kids will understand some day that I am not perfect (even tho I say I am!) and that all that I do, is with the best intention to make them model citizens and be successful in whatever they decide to do in the future.
Here is to many more days of second guessing my decisions and arguments!

Confessions of teens mom #3

Well... We r that age! No, not the terrible twos but the disgusting, horrible, nightmarish 16! Junior year, spring time, and he KNOWS all and WANTS all regardless if he deserves or not. Oh yeah... He is always right! Pfff... Nothing we do is good enough, we are the meanest parents, we are dumb and cheap. I know I will regret saying this BUT.... Is it time for college yet?!?!?!
Prom is around the corner and we have been making him work to earn some money... Wow! That is the end of the world! His friends are getting everything handed to them and they get to drive to prom... Sorry buddy! You belong to your unconsidered and cheap parents! We just spent $400 to rent tux, and we just wanted him to feel like he contributed to paying for something), tickets, flowers, and still waiting to hear the PLAN! And sorry we have a van and you are not legally eligible to drive other people.
Yes, I am mean, cheap, and obey the law (for the most part)! I am trying to raise a responsible, caring, law abiding citizen here!
PS: I'm excited to take prom pics with him and his date. It is a big deal to attend prom! (I can only guess... Never went!)

Confession of teens mom#2

Have you ever felt like what is YOURS,  Belongs to everyone else? While kids were growing up, I had to sacrifice my sleep, my mealtime, my looks (many days looked like a hobo!), new pair of jeans, shoes, etc. so the kids could have the latest apparel that would last a whole month if they didn't grow out if it before than. Today... I guess I have to borrow the van when I want to use it. WTH???? Seriously???? The joys of motherhood!

Confessions of teens mom#1

Small town festivals are not exciting anymore since I don't have little ones. Hated when they were little and having to chase them around and hope the money lasted for the entire almond blossom weekend. Now kids go on their own and really don't want me around and I really don't feel like going and being around a bunch of people. But feeling weird about the entire thing! Never happy, I guess!

First day of teaching!

My first day of teaching ha it's up and down. The kids were wonderful and in their best behavior but I know soon it will all change. However, I am going to keep a positive attitude and hope they know better then try anything with me. Since we try to treat them as if they are in junior high (we are a k-8 school), I will teach the ELA and one portion of pre-algebra.
I am so excited to be doing something I have been working towards for the past THOUSAND years!!!
Here is the down side, one of my test to complete the credential program expired in May and now not sure if I will get the paper needed to teach. Options... They will either find a waiver and keep me working or I will have to go back to my previous job as a librarian (worst case scenario) so please send positive thoughts my way.
Brent had a great first day as a sophomore. The curse of sophomore year truly exist and I can already see it come out. Hopefully football will keep him in line!
Tori is an 8th grader... She is partially in my class during the day. She did great during the first day of school and is super excited about this school year.
Ready for day 2! BRING IT!!!

KONY 2012

KONY 2012... What the heck is this all about??? If you watched the video, you are dying to post it on your facebook, get others involved, and take action in the campaign. Some critics say there are hidden intentions for this cause and that the director did a great job editing this film (hiding some truths). Others are calling people followers for taking action and making this cause a priority.
Where do you stand?
Where do I stand?
I say more power to those trying to make a difference in the world we live in, power to those that have the courage to to take action and battle those that ignores the problems, power to those that can do something about it. Yes, this cause is not the only cause out there that we need to fight for. Yes, this cause is not at home. Yes, this is not a new problem. Yes, this is something that everyone can help with. If you didn't create or had the idea or knew how to put it together... you can now join in the cause and help. How would you feel if this was taking place in your school, hometown, state, country? Would you criticize those with the power to make a change and help you? I say NO. I would welcome all the help I could get. I would be grateful for having someone fight for me, my brothers, sisters, parents, for a school, freedom of speech, etc. How can you say we are followers? What are you doing to save the those in need in this country or any other part of this world? How dare you criticize those willing to help???
I grew up in a free country that has potentials to grow tremendously. It has its positives and negatives... but I love my country. There are so many other free countries in this world and I hope the ones that are caught in terrible times will soon find a way to have freedom of speech and be allowed to grow up to see a beautiful place where ever they may be.
I am inviting our 7th & 8th graders to watch and participate. I want them to see that not everyone has the same rights as they did, that not everyone has a full family at home, house, cars, money to go to movies, games, shopping, food... This is not about what political side you stand, it is about coming together to aid those in need. I think once Kony 2012 has achieved its purpose that we, the world, will continue to fight for another cause.
I can make a difference... so can you!

Girls Night!

Tori made honor roll and did a great job on the school play, so I thought we should go out and have a girls night! We went to Chipotle for yummy dinner, than spent 2 hrs walking at forever 21!!! Yikes... But we had a blast! We made a quick trip to target on the way home and we are exhausted! I'm ready for bed but she is waiting for a friend to come over to continue her girls night! Thanks Glen for the idea and let us browse the mall... I'm sure you missed that!!! Haha!

Motherhood...

YIKES!!! Why is it so hard? Was panicking cause I couldn't get a hold of Brent. Off course my mind goes to places where it should never go. Posted on Facebook and txted all his friends and NOTHING. He finally called and tell me his phone died but was where he said he would be but off course I let him have it over the phone. After calming down, I told him sorry I went crazy on him but just got really nervous, especially since the town is full of non-riponites! Scary, scary... well he now called and said it was his fault for not using his friend's phone to check in and he knew I was worried about him and said "Thank you mom for caring so much and keeping tabs on me" Ugh... now he made me cry! They drive me crazy and give me plenty of gray hairs but I Love them so much that I would die if something ever happened to them. As look back... All I have to say is Thank you mom and dad and I am SOOOO VERY SORRY for all the worry and stress I put you through.
